The Planets
There are 22 archetypes which are the raw material of our world. Everything in this world can be broken down into these 22 archetypes in it’s most essential and pure form. While these archetypes are static and permeate all of existence in all times, astrology is the system which allows us to read the dynamic aspects of these archetypes as they interact with each other.
There are 10 planets in our solar system which we use in the astrological chart. If the chart is a movie, the 10 planets are the actors of the story, indicating what archetypal energies are at play.
Sun
The Sun represents our will, vitality and our ego nature. It represents our birth, and our ability to shine. Where the sun is determines our “sign”. In dash astrology, the sun is the female “yin” luminary, as it is the source of all life, just like a mother who gives birth and sustains life. It provides us with warmth, light, joy, creation and the clarity we need to be ourselves.
Moon
The Moon has no light of its own, and depends on the light of the sun. In dash astrology, the moon is the male “yang” energy as it is constantly receiving the light of the sun in different phases. Waxing and waning across the sky, the moon is the fastest planet in astrology and represents how we receive, react, and respond to life. The moon also indicates what is concealed within us and our inner self.
Mercury
Mercury represents our thought process as well as our ability to write, read, think and communicate. Mercury is the planet of mindfulness and focus. It reveals our intentions and what inspires us. The planet mercury is a messenger, or channel, of ideas and how we communicate with others.
Venus
Venus is the planet of desire nature and the process of creation. It is the archetype of the mother and mothering, and has the power to take care and nurture desires into fruition. Venus rules the healing power of unconditional love, self-acceptance, beauty, and the ability to give and receive love. Venus also rules money.
Mars
Mars is the planet of energy, sex, and action. It is our basic fuel and ability to execute commands. Mars is constantly outgrowing its environment and seeks to be rid of habits and old structures. Mars injects stamina and endurance so that the fighting spirit is strong.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the planet of expansion and growth. It is the planet of good merit and blessings. It has the power to turn the tables in any situation. Jupiter is optimistic and knows that everything will be good, even if the odds are bad. Jupiter can also indicate where we get stuck in repeat situations if we are not growing and expanding.
Saturn
Saturn represents the lessons we need to learn. This is a planet of manifestation, but with strict conditions. It rules time, and teaches us discipline and process. Saturn must be worked with in order to receive the material rewards we seek. This planet reveals limitations so that it can teach us how to transcend them. Saturn rules the “here and now” and constantly reminds us of it too.
Uranus
Uranus is fearless and represents the part within us that is in search of self realization. With Uranus, we stumble into seemingly “foolish” situations, which we realize to be essential to our life. Uranus is spontaneous, affirmative, open for experience, without expectation, seemingly without a plan, and always living in the moment. It can bring turbulence if we are holding onto the expected.
Neptune
Neptune represents the psychic antenna that receives wisdom, guidance and spiritual information from beyond our physical world. Neptune gives us an inverted perspective so that we can see things from another point of view and therefore has the power to dissolve illusion, attachment to ego and anything of the physical world.
Pluto
Pluto is the planet of judgement and resurrection. It judges us to the degree we have judged others and this can sometimes make it a scary planet. But Pluto is also the planet of transformation and upgrades. Pluto wakes us up from from “The Matrix” and has the power to move us from darkness into the light. This planet wants us to accomplish transformation and complete our karmic cycles.
